PRODUCT DETAILS
We are pleased to introduce this wonderful range of hand thrown ceramic candle urns by West Australian artist, Hayley Bangham of Conscious Clay.
Each urn is lovingly thrown on the wheel, turned & bisque fired. This urn is created using the Japanese Neriage technique (pronounced Nair-ee-ah-gee). It involves layering and stacking various colours and grades of clay by hand. When thrown, this ‘composite’ produces a captivating and unique blend of swirls and spirals. Each piece has several different colours and grades of Australian sourced clay, including fine white porcelain, buff raku trachyte, warm tanned and creamy coloured ironstones, rough bark chocolate stoneware and slithers of pink and blue clay. The exterior is burnished with river stone while it is leather hard, emphasising the natural colours and exposing the raw minerals embedded in the clay.
This urn is designed to hold a generous adult size.
